Adv Bike

It's no secret that the iconic motorcycle brand has been moving in a new direction. But for us mere mortals, standing on a big bike takes a lot more bravery, mainly because if the bike starts to topple, by the time you've sat down and put your legs out to steady the bike, it will be already heading to the ground and you are not going to stop 200kg with a dab.

RawHyde has been involved in the Adventure Riding segment of the motorcycle world for more than 15 years. To some riders, this is an issue, but if you're really into adventure riding, the less things that can go wrong, the better. A mid-sized adventure bike normally weighs in between 140 kg to 180 kg (fuelled without gear).

An 18-litre fuel tank, long travel suspension, high ground clearance and dry weight of 186 kg certainly make the SuperDual a very attractive proposition as a lightweight, easy to use adventure bike. Merlin have a CX bike 105 equipped which is quite competitive too th a similar range of gear IIRC.

Ground clearance has also been raised, with the Adventure Sports offering 20mm more than the base model, and longer travel suspension has also been fitted. This list begins with more street oriented bikes for riders that intend to ride primarily on pavement.

While the Ducati Multistrada might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you're trying to think of potential adventure motorcycles, it's time to change that mindset. But if you want to get serious with off-road riding, add the Rally Raid kit to the CB500X and it completely transforms the bike into something much more capable in the dirt.

Thanks to that fun triple cylinder engine, it makes for a great sized machine that has enough grunt for a wide range of riding styles but keeps the whole package nice and light and nimble at the same time. It's been in our bloodline ever since the very first Triumph Tigers won three gold medals in the 1936 International Six Days Trial, and this started the first chapter of the world's longest-running adventure motorbike story.

After breakfast Sunday, riders will navigate back to Middlecreek Campground, approximately 50 miles. Again, it's a better adventure motorcycle for those who prefer to adventure on paved roads but are easily persuaded to have a look where that overgrown trail goes every now and again - provided that they know when enough is enough though.

There had been many rumours circulating about a KTM 790 Adventure before Eicma, with some riders wishfully TET UK hoping that it might be launched for 2018. In this episode, Graham Field, motorcycle adventure traveller and author, talks about his experience with solo travel, and the pros and cons of it.

If it were, it would have a small, light and powerful single cylinder engine, a sleek and clutter-free chassis and weight close to 120kg fully fuelled and ready to. No adventure bike on the market hits those three balls - sorry, not one. Between the Triumph Tiger and the BMW F800GS, it had to be the BMW As fun and exotic as a triple cylinder engine is, there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned parallel twin.

The BMW F800GS doesn't score higher on our list because: it's not the most exciting of motorcycles on the market, the seat isn't the most comfortable, and there are a lot of ergonomic irritations like the screen being too low, or the footpegs not wide enough for normal human feet.
